My first memory of Daniel is of watching him take photos in my parent’s backyard in California in 2008. He was on tour playing guitar with Lujo band, Pomegranates. My parents have a pool so the band had stopped by to say hello and hang out and…swim? My memory is fuzzy, but I do remember Daniel, camera in hand. Fast-forward to today and he’s still touring, but with a new band called Spirit Award. He’s still taking photos, too. I caught up with Daniel in the middle of a west coast tour. —Jocelyn
What's new?
So much! Moved to Seattle about 7 years ago, doing lots of woodworking/homemaking projects, and I have a cute dog (see photo of said "cute dog").
What have you been working on?
Been mostly working on a record with my band Spirit Award titled "Muted Crowd". Trevor Spencer (Fleet Foxes, Father John Misty) produced this one, and I couldn't have been more happy with the product and process. Working on a record of my own as well.
First single/video is out now!
What are you excited about?
Excited for lots things: camping/hiking, making more wood/leather things, fall release tour, SXSW, EU/UK tour!
What are you listening to?
Been listening to a lot of early Brian Eno and Paul McCartney solo records.
